    Born in 1684 in Ghent, Belgium, Delyen apprenticed under Parisian artist Nicolas de Largillièrre and specialized in portraits. He later went to the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture in Paris, where he exhibited his works of portraits of Nicolas Bertin and Guillaume Coustou several times. He exhibited his works regularly in the Academy between 1737 and 1747. Jacques-François Delyen executed the available paintings, Aurora Triumphant and Diana and Endymion, in 1752, approximately 10 years before his demise in Paris on March 3, 1761.
