  • The present work is unsigned but is reminiscent of Horatio Stone’s life-size marble figure of John Hancock in the U.S. Senate, as well as that of Alexander Hamilton in the Rotunda.

    Horatio Stone (December 25, 1808 – August 25, 1875), was an American sculptor, physician, and writer. He is best remembered for his three statues in the U.S. Capitol.
