    Product Details

The box and cover are made of wood and covered in layers of cinnabar lacquer, which is a type of Chinese lacquer that is famous for its deep red color and glossy finish traditionally used in Chinese art pieces. It is meticulously painted and polished over a thin layer, creating a 3-dimensional carving effect. The octagonal shape of the box is adorned with intricate carvings of figures, dragons, phoenix, landscapes, and other decorative motifs, all in high relief.

The figures on the box and cover are depicted in various scenes from Chinese mythology, history, and daily life. The carvings are incredibly detailed, with every figure and detail carefully crafted to perfection. The lid of the box is similarly decorated, with a large central figure surrounded by smaller figures and floral patterns.

The massive size of this box and cover suggests that it was likely made for use in a royal or wealthy household. Its intricate carvings and fine craftsmanship make it a highly collectible and valuable piece of Chinese art.
